Coastal waterproofing checklist
Educational checklist for baths, additions, and weatherproofing near Puget Sound. Not a product endorsement or installation manual.
Moisture habits
- Identify wind-driven rain exposure and coastal moisture risk for the elevation before finish selections.
- Require a written dry-in / temporary weather protection plan when openings are cut in roofs or walls.
- Specify the waterproofing or weather-resistive approach in the contract (system + responsible trade).
- Photograph membrane changes of plane, pan flashings, and wet-wall assemblies before cover.
- Confirm ventilation strategy for baths (fan capacity, duct termination) in writing.
- Sequence exterior cladding and window flashing so water has a drainage path, not a dead-end cavity.
- Walk a moisture-related punch list before final payment; keep product cut sheets in the owner file.
