How a house is built

Water in and waste out

Supply, a water heater, fixtures, and drains with vents. The wet rooms on this plan are the kitchen, baths, and laundry.

Arrow keys turn the house. Plus and minus, or the zoom buttons, change the zoom. A horizontal drag turns it after you tap the drawing. Reset view returns to the step camera.

Teaching sketch of this house. Not a structural design.

The drawing needs WebGL. The notes on the page still stand.

SupplyHeaterVents rise; drains fall
Supply, a heater, and drains with vents. Not a pipe layout.. Teaching sketch, not a detail drawing.

Supply pipes bring water under pressure. A heater stores it or heats it as it passes. Fixtures use it, then the drain carries waste by gravity. Each trap needs a vent so the water seal is not sucked out. Vents rise to open air. Drains slope. Under-slab drains have to be in place before the slab is poured.

On this plan the wet rooms are the kitchen, the powder room, the upper baths, and the laundry. Stacking them shortens the drains. The utility room is a likely heater location. The drawing names the rooms. It does not route a pipe or pick copper or cross-linked polyethylene.
