How a house is built
One house, four jobs
Structure, enclosure, services, and finishes are four different jobs in the same house.
Arrow keys turn the house. Plus and minus, or the zoom buttons, change the zoom. A horizontal drag turns it after you tap the drawing. Reset view returns to the step camera.
The drawing needs WebGL. The notes on the page still stand.
A house is several systems sharing one footprint. The structure carries weight. The enclosure keeps out rain and slows heat. Services move water, air, and power. Finishes are what you touch. They are built in that order because each one has to be reachable before the next one covers it.
On this model the frame is the walls, floors, and roof planes. The skin is the siding strokes and the roof cover. The rooms you see in plan are where the services will land: kitchen, baths, laundry, and the utility room. The drawing does not hide pipes inside the walls.
Turn the buttons to peel the skin off the frame, then put it back. Follow any part into its own page from Explore.
